Lucas Berman appointed partner of the Firm
Lucas Berman was appointed as a Partner in the firm. Lucas arrived in Sint Maarten in 2010 after having worked in Amsterdam in the Netherlands as an Attorney at Law. From the beginning Mark Kortenoever and Jeroen Veen, the founders of Lexwell, experienced that the collaboration was a success. Rapidly Lucas felt at home both on Sint Maarten and within the firm and that chemistry led to joining the firm as partner.
Lucas Berman (29) was born in Toulouse, France (1982) and was raised in the Netherlands where he graduated from Leiden University in 2007 for his Bachelor’s degree (LL.B.) and in 2008 from Amsterdam University for his Master’s degree (LL.M.). He was admitted to the Bar of Amsterdam in 2008. In 2010, he moved to Sint Maarten where he was admitted to the bar of the former Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. His practice focuses mainly on commercial litigation, corporate law and employment law. Because of his interest in maritime law he specialized over the past few years also in maritime law and handles the maritime cases of the firm. Lucas was raised in a family of contractors and was taught that you always have to perform your services like you would perform them for yourself. “Build the house like it’s your own” was the motto in his family and Lucas is still guided by this principle in his daily work as an attorney. Lucas Berman was a member of the Appeal Council for the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) and has a big interest in other sports such as diving and golf. Next to his work as an attorney Lucas Berman is currently a board member of the Sint Maarten Nature Foundation. In his opinion apart from legal interests, natures’ interests need to be defended as well.
